UKCC Programme of Delivery.
For New Coaches wishing to obtain a coaching course.
The RLCEP will be delivering Level 1 and Level 2 from January 07. There is a full programme of courses planned for the first 6 months. We will then assess the demand and plan more dates to meet that demand. The new Qualifications need to be delivered through a planned and coordinated programme, this will enable a quality service to be provided.
It is envisaged that we will be seeking applications for the Level 3 qualification late December, with a projected start date of March 07.
If you wish to book on a course you may in the first instance speak to your Service Area Coordinator or contact RLCEP direct. (The web site is under development).
For current Coaches wishing to obtain a Bridging Pack (TI) and/or Qualification(T2)
Coaches who already hold a current RLCEP licence will be able to continue their practice until 2009. They must however complete a minimum of a bridging pack prior to this date to continue to coach. The bridging pack facilitates the knowledge gaps that exist between the current awards and the new qualification. Coaches should apply for a Bridging pack via the RLCEP requesting the pack that best suits their current experience, Level 1, Level 2 (See descriptors below). The Bridging is in two parts, we have called these T1, T2.
T1 is the requesting and completion of the bridging pack; this will require some reading and a small amount of work. You will also have to undertake a small knowledge test. This is then sent to the RLCEP and stored as evidence.
T2 is the requesting of a registration to be qualified and gain certification from the awarding body. You will have to register with an approved centre (RLCEP) and attend an assessment day. You will have to prove evidence of your current coaching level and will be required to undertake an observed practical observation and have a knowledge assessment.
Further Information.
The RFL are in the process of negotiating funding to assist in the delivery of the Coaching Qualifications and the bridging strategy. This funding (if available) will be awarded to candidates on a first come first served basis. The UKCC qualifications are by definition a National Recognised qualification that is transferable across career options. This has some obvious benefits and implications. The RFL have driven the cost of coaching awards down to what is a marketable and manageable cost for the coach, this will be further reduced by the potential funding.
As an added incentive the RLCEP are offering a further £10 off the cost of a bridging pack if the candidate applies and completes T1 and T2 within 2 years. The £10 will be refunded on application and registration for the certificate (T2).
Further announcements and confirmation of costs are imminent; you should check the trade papers and RFL web sites. When details are made available you would be advised to apply early to the RLCEP as there are limited assisted places.
Descriptors
The Level 1 course is ideal for those inexperienced and new to coaching, particularly volunteers, parents and students who are seeking coaching involvement with young players learning the game through their involvement in the Modified Games programme.
The Level II course is suitable for people with some experience of the game of Rugby League and offers candidates an insight in how to plan, coach and evaluate programmes that cater for committed club level players and teams operating in the domestic playing and/or Service Area structures.
