9 Jun 2006 - Albert (Snowy) Rowlands RIP

It is with deep sadness that I have to inform you all that Albert Rowlands, known as Snowy, died on Sunday 4th June aged 77. He would have been 78 the following day. Albert lived and breathed rugby league until Alzheimers? Disease took over. He has been ill for at least a couple of years and his wife Ann has looked after him until the very end. He was very well known in Warrington as a scout for The Wires, but also for his help in running the Warrington District League. He had been a player, and a coach as well as an official.

Snowy had been registration secretary of the North West Counties league from 1976 to 1999. On leaving office, he was made only the second life member of the league. During his playing career he played professional for Keighley

Albert and Ann married at St Albans Church, Bewsey, Warrington and the 2nd June was their wedding anniversary and his funeral will take place at the same church at 9.00 a.m. on Wednesday 14 June and afterwards at the Crematorium at 10.00 a.m. Family flowers only and donations probably to The Alzheimers? Society.
