WARRINGTON ALLIANCE CUP FINAL

Rylands A 54-2 Latchford Albion A

A strong Rylands side containing 7 players with 1st team experience totally overwhelmed a youthful Latchford Albion side to lift the Carlsberg-Tetley Alliance Cup at a wet and windy Gorsey Lane
. Latchford took an early lead when Ben Fawcett booted over an early penalty in the fifth minute, but from then on it was all Rylands. Mark Forster went in for the first of Rylands 11 tries courtesy of a short pass from son Chris, Sam Brinksman landed the touchline conversion and it wasn?t long before Gary Hewitt extended the lead after good work from Jimmy Harrison. Mark Forster got his second before Chris Forster got a try after Captain Glyn Haddrell had chipped over the advancing Latchford defence. Hayden James and Man of the Match Danny Shaw finished off slick handling moves both converted by Chris Forster to give Rylands a 30-2 half time lead.

Sam Brinksman got a try 5 minutes into the second half after Rochdale bound Chris Forster and Danny Shaw had created space for the wingman to go over unopposed, and it wasn?t long before Danny Forster got in on the scoring act collecting a cross field kick from Chris who added both conversions and Rylands led 42-2 with over 30 minutes to play. Latchford never gave up though with former Warrington Wolves player Gary Tees, Mal Mason and Dave Levenston leading from the front, but it was Rylands who finished the stronger with Jimmy Harrison and Danny Forster adding converted tries in the ever deteriorating conditions.
