Clubmark

The Minister for Sport, the Right Honourable Richard Caborn MP attended the Round One Tetley's Rugby Super League fixture between Warrington Wolves and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the new Haliiwell Jones Stadium last weekend.

The visit was to celebrate the fact that the Warrington Rugby League Service Area has recently become the first one in the UK in which every grassroots club has attained Sport England's Club Mark accreditation.

The Minister - together with officials from Sport England and the Rugby Football League (RFL) - presented awards to Wolves Chief Executive Andy Gatcliffe and Chairman Lord Hoyle at half time to mark the occasion. Representatives from each club in the area also received presentations.

Commenting on the achievement Neil Kelly, Warrington's Rugby League Development Officer, said: "Young people make an enormous contribution to the social and sporting life of our communities and we hope that the Clubmark accreditation will play a vital role in making sure we can continue to develop opportunities both for them and their sports clubs. Clubmark will break new ground in our communities by providing sports clubs with more support, information and advice than ever before."
